Publication Ethics
This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of Wanastra: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
1. Ethics
Publication in Wanastra: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra represents the academic integrity of authors and their institutions. Each manuscript must provide a meaningful contribution to the humanities and applied linguistics. All editorial decisions are made independently and remain free from any commercial influence.
2. Publication Decision
Manuscripts are assessed for academic merit, originality, clarity, relevance to the journal’s scope, and adherence to ethical standards, including the absence of plagiarism. All submissions undergo initial screening, plagiarism checking, peer review, revision, layout editing, and final approval before publication.
3. Non-Discrimination
All manuscripts are reviewed solely based on scholarly merit, without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy. The editor upholds the principle of equality and academic fairness in the publication process.
4. Confidentiality
Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts. No information about a manuscript may be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the editorial board as necessary.
5. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Editors and reviewers must not use unpublished material from submitted manuscripts for their research without the author’s explicit consent. Any potential conflicts of interest, whether personal, academic, financial, or institutional, must be disclosed. If such conflicts exist, editors or reviewers must recuse themselves from the review process.
Author’s Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that their submissions to Wanastra: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra are original, have not been previously published, and are not under consideration by another journal. Double or multiple submissions are strictly prohibited; submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is unethical and harms the integrity of the publication process, as well as the valuable time and effort of the editorial and review teams.
Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others through accurate citations, provide correct and complete research data, and ensure the validity of their findings. Any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation must be clearly disclosed.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively and provide constructive, evidence-based feedback. All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with unauthorized parties. Reviewers must also declare any conflicts of interest that could affect the impartiality of their assessment.
Editors’ Responsibilities
Editors must ensure that the peer-review process is conducted fairly, transparently, and without bias. They are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and may only share information with individuals directly involved in the review. Editorial decisions must be based solely on academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors must also manage any conflicts of interest or ethical concerns that arise during the publication process.
Publication Malpractice
Wanastra: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra does not tolerate any form of academic misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, or improper authorship attribution. In cases of suspected misconduct, the journal will conduct an investigation as stated in the Misconduct Research Policy.
The journal is committed to promoting transparency and ethical practices in scholarly publishing. All authors, reviewers, and readers are encouraged to adhere to the journal’s ethical guidelines to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity.
