Publishing System

Indonesian Journal on Software Engineering (IJSE) accepts submissions made through the open journal system (OJS) Editorial and Publication Workflow. 

The journal follows a structured editorial and publication process through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to ensure that every manuscript is processed transparently, systematically, and in accordance with the journal’s editorial standards. The publication workflow consists of the following stages:

1. Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s OJS platform by completing the required metadata and uploading the manuscript files. After submission, the manuscript enters the Submission Queue, where the Editor-in-Chief assigns it to an Issue Editor or Guest Editor for further editorial processing.

2. Submission Review
The assigned editor conducts an initial assessment of the manuscript to determine its suitability for the journal. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening proceed to the peer-review process. The editor selects and invites appropriate reviewers to evaluate the manuscript. Reviewers provide comments, recommendations, and assessments regarding the quality and academic merit of the submission. Based on the review reports, the editor makes an editorial decision. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscript and submit a revised version in response to the reviewers’ and editors’ comments.

3. Submission Editing
Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, it proceeds to the editorial production stage. This stage generally includes Copyediting, to improve language, consistency, formatting, and presentation; Layout editing, to prepare the manuscript according to the journal’s publication format; and Proofreading, to check the final version for typographical, formatting, and other minor errors. Authors may be asked to review the edited manuscript or proof before publication.

4. Issue Management
After the editorial and production processes are completed, accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication in a specific journal issue. The editorial team creates and manages the issue in OJS, schedules the accepted manuscripts, and organizes the Table of Contents before publication.

5. Publication
The completed journal issue is published according to the journal’s publication schedule. Depending on the journal’s publishing model, articles may be published immediately, through continuous publication, or as part of a scheduled journal issue. Once published, articles become available to readers through the journal website, including access to the article metadata, full-text files, and other related resources.

Journal Management
Throughout the publication process, the journal management team is responsible for maintaining and configuring the OJS platform, managing editorial roles and workflows, and coordinating Editors, Reviewers, Copyeditors, Layout Editors, and Proofreaders.

Current Issue and Journal Archive
Published articles are displayed in the Current Issue section and remain permanently accessible through the Journal Archive. The archive allows readers to browse previous issues and access published articles.

The journal maintains records of the entire submission and editorial process within OJS, including completed submissions, editorial decisions, peer-review records, and published or declined manuscripts. This workflow is intended to maintain transparency, accountability, and quality throughout the journal’s editorial and publication process.
