Misconduct Research Policy

Khasanah Ilmu – Journal of Tourism and Culture is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in research and publication, following the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Research misconduct includes plagiarism, citation manipulation, data fabrication, and data falsification. The Editorial Team is responsible for safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of published works. Editors will thoroughly investigate any indication of misconduct or other serious irregularities identified in submitted or published manuscripts. If misconduct is suspected, the Editors and Editorial Board will handle the case fairly and transparently. In accordance with COPE guidelines, the Editors will examine all allegations, classify the severity of the misconduct, verify the supporting evidence, and determine whether the case falls within the established definition of research misconduct.

  1. Retraction

All manuscripts found to contain research misconduct during submission will be immediately rejected. If misconduct is discovered after publication, the Editors will issue a formal Retraction Notice, which will be clearly linked to the original article. The retracted article will remain accessible with a watermark or label indicating its retracted status to maintain the scholarly record.

2. Withdrawal Policy

Authors are not permitted to withdraw manuscripts after they have entered the peer-review process. Withdrawals at this stage undermine the time, effort, and resources invested by editors, reviewers, and the publisher. Requests for withdrawal may only be considered under exceptional circumstances and must be accompanied by a formal, written explanation.

3. Correction

Corrections are issued to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the published literature. Corrections may include:

  • Erratum: Issued to correct errors introduced during the editorial or production process, such as typographical mistakes or factual inaccuracies not identified before publication.
  • Corrigendum: Issued by the author(s) to correct significant errors they contributed to the published work.
  • Addendum: Issued to provide additional information, updates, or clarifications that were not available during the initial publication.

All corrections will be clearly linked to the original article.

4. Removal

In rare and exceptional circumstances, a published article may be removed from the online platform. Removal will only occur when an article violates legal rights, is subject to a court order, or presents a significant public health or safety risk.
When removal is necessary, the bibliographic metadata (title and author names) will remain publicly accessible, accompanied by a note explaining that the article has been removed for legal reasons.

5. Replacement

If a published article is found to pose a serious health or safety risk, the authors may request to retract and replace it with a corrected version. In such cases, the standard retraction procedure applies, and a link to the revised article will be provided along with the publication history.
