Publication Ethics
This statement clarifies the ethical standards expected of all parties involved in the publication process of manuscripts submitted to the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal, managed by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika. This includes authors, editors, and reviewers.
This statement is based on the standards COPEs Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
1. Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of a manuscript must adhere to ethical standards, as also upheld by Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal. This journal publishes both theoretical and empirical papers from credible sources whose accountability can be ensured. Such ethical conduct is essential for the development of scientific knowledge that can be implemented to support the economic advancement of a nation. Therefore, establishing a coherent and respected body of knowledge requires adherence to ethical publishing guidelines. These guidelines directly reflect the quality of work by the authors and the institutions supporting them. Manuscripts published in Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal undergo a peer-review process to support and uphold the scientific method. Consequently, it is crucial that all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, journal editors, reviewers, publishers, and the public, agree to and follow the expected standards of ethical behavior
Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika as the publisher of the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal, takes its role of guardianship over all stages of publishing very seriously and carries out its responsibilities with the utmost ethics and care. Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika is committed to ensuring that dissemination, reprinting, or any commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.
2. Publication Decisions
Before publication, either online or in print, of the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal, the Chief Editor who holds primary responsibility for publication seeks input from other editors and considers recommendations from reviewers. This process is part of a structured publication workflow that includes manuscript submission, editorial review, peer review, layout editing, plagiarism checking, and copyright validation. All of these stages are conducted under the supervision of the Chief Editor and authorized editors. Based on these steps, a publication decision is made for each manuscript submitted to the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal.
3. Non-Discrimination
In every stage of the publication process in the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal, editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts based solely on their scholarly content, without consideration of the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy. This practice reflects the journal’s commitment to uphold the ethical principle of non-discrimination in academic publishing.
4. Confidentiality
The integrity and confidentiality of all manuscripts published in the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal are strictly maintained. Editors and reviewers are not permitted to disclose extensive information about a submitted manuscript to anyone whether authors, reviewers, editorial team members, or the publisher except as deemed necessary and appropriate. Disclosure is limited only to what is relevant and required within the editorial and publication process.
5. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the editor’s or reviewers’ own research without the express written consent of the author. Any privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions
The publication of manuscripts in the Journal of Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) involves reviewers who are experts in their respective fields. The reviewers’ evaluations contribute significantly to the editorial decision for each submission. CO-SCIENCE applies a blind-review process, in which the reviewers’ feedback is communicated back to the authors to help improve the quality of their research.
2. Promptness
The Journal Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) places great emphasis on timely publication and communication with authors. Every manuscript submitted to Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) is processed according to the established procedures, with timely updates provided to both authors and reviewers. If a reviewer fails to carry out their duties within the designated timeframe, the editor will appoint an alternative, more qualified reviewer. This measure ensures that the publication process remains consistent with the journal’s established schedule.
3. Confidentiality
Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) Journal is managed by Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika with the support of expert editors and reviewers. Every submitted manuscript is treated with strict confidentiality by the editors, reviewers, and the publisher. Due to the implementation of a blind-review process, reviewers are only permitted to discuss the manuscript content with the assigned editors and the authors when necessary.
4. Standards of Objectivity
Each manuscript submitted to the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) journal must be evaluated by editors and reviewers based on established academic standards. Nevertheless, review comments must remain respectful toward the author. Reviewers are required to maintain consistency in their assessments and recommendations to the editors and authors, ensuring that all judgments are fair, constructive, and grounded in scholarly merit.
5. Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers are required to carefully evaluate all sources cited in manuscripts submitted to the Journal Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE), as submitted by authors through the editorial team. Each source must be verified for accuracy and relevance, and appropriately acknowledged through a reliable and properly formatted reference list.
6. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the submitted work.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
1. Reporting Standards
Authors are required to present data and information accurately and clearly in any submitted manuscript to Jurnal Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE). The presented data must include reliable and verifiable sources, properly cited within the manuscript. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
2. Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide the raw data or supporting information related to their manuscript for editorial and review purposes. Therefore, authors are required to make such data and information available in a timely manner to the editor and reviewers. This is to support the refinement of the manuscript in accordance with the standards of the Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) journal..
3. Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works. If the authors have used the work and/or words of others, these must be properly cited or quoted. Any instance of improper citation or plagiarism will result in the immediate rejection of the manuscript. Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE) uses iThenticate software to check the originality of articles before publication.
4. Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication
When authors submit a manuscript to be published in the Journal of Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE), they are not permitted to submit the same manuscript to other publishers or journals simultaneously. Simultaneous submission is considered unethical publishing behavior and is therefore unacceptable.
5. Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must properly acknowledge all sources that have significantly contributed to the content of the manuscript submitted to the Journal of Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE). All such acknowledgments must be clearly cited in the reference list.
6. Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research reported in the manuscript submitted to the Journal of Computer Science (CO-SCIENCE). Each listed author shares responsibility for keeping all co-authors informed throughout the peer-review process. Upon acceptance, all authors are required to provide a signed statement declaring that the submitted research is their original work.
7. Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
If the work involves the use of chemicals, procedures, or equipment that have any unusual or inherent hazards, the authors must clearly identify and disclose all such hazards in the manuscript.
8. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
All authors must disclose in their manuscript any support that contributed to the completion of the research. All sources of financial support for the research must be clearly acknowledged.
9. Common Fundamental Errors in Published Manuscripts
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
